Howry Breen & Herman Files Suit Against Pharmacy for Mis-Compounding Medication
Our Austin pharmacy negligence attorneys of Howry Breen & Herman have filed a lawsuit against Stonegate Pharmacy on behalf of Lorena Lopez, who nearly died when a compounding pharmacy gave her dangerously mis-compounded medication. In our lawsuit, we are claiming the pharmacy was negligent when compounding her prescription medication in a dose that was more than 50,000% greater than it should have been, almost killing her as she took several doses as prescribed. To make matters even more unacceptable, Stonegate had previously mis-compounded and overdosed two other prior patients and should have taken extra precautions since those incidents.
The lawsuit filed by our law firm has reaped media attention, with recent articles and news segments on KVUE. You can click here to learn more about this ongoing case, including a televised media segment and comments from our firm’s Partner Sean Breen, on KVUE ABC.
We are thankful that newsgroups are paying attention to this story and bringing it to light. Compounding pharmacies in Texas like Stonegate Pharmacy are not often inspected for safety regulation compliance, nor are they often penalized when something does go wrong. In fact, no compounding pharmacies — which re-compound prescriptions for special needs or purposes — have even lost their license to operate in recent years, despite numerous stories much like Lorena’s.
Our team is hopeful that by fighting for justice on Lorena’s behalf and seeking every last penny of damages she and her family deserves, we can also empower others who have been hurt due to similar mistakes and negligence. We are intent on securing damages for medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, future expenses, and so forth.
